Georgian Luger Dies in Vancouver

21-year-old Georgian luger, Nodar Kumaritashvili, died in a crash during training, hours before the opening of Vancouver Olympic Games on February 12.

"We are all in deep shock, we don't know what to do. We don't know whether to take part in the opening ceremony or even the Olympic Games themselves," BBC quoted head of Georgian Olympic delegation Irakli Japaridze.

Parliament approved on February 9 with its first reading amendments to the criminal procedure code changing rule of consecutive sentencing and increasing minimal age of criminal responsibility from 12 to 14.

Georgian Officials Slam French-Russian Mistral Deal

France has agreed to sell one warship to Russia and if completed, the deal would be the first major military sale by a NATO member to Russia.

A lawmaker from the ruling party, MP Davit Darchiashvili, said while speaking at the parliamentary session on February 9 it was “an imprudent decision” by France.

Canada sends 5 million doses of H1N1 vaccine to WHO

Canada is donating five million doses of H1N1 vaccine to the World Health Organization for use in developing countries.

The federal government will also donate $6 million to WHO's pandemic relief efforts, Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq announced Thursday.
