Apr 21 - Ex-Soviet Georgia has accused a Russian air force jet of shooting down an unmanned Georgian reconnaissance drone over Georgian territory. Georgia's air force supplied to Reuters video footage which it said was recorded and transmitted by the drone's on-board camera before it was shot down. No identification markings are visible on the aircraft that fired the missile. |

On March 20, 2008, with the initiative of Abkhazia Institute for Social and Economic Research and the “Georgia News” newspaper, President of Georgia, Mr. Mikhael Saakashvili, met with representatives of the Georgian Diaspora from all over the United States. The meeting was attended by a writer and a public activist, Dr. Ushangi Rizhinashvili; a university professor of Slavonic languages and literature from Indiana, Dodona Kiziria; an artist, Eteri Chkadua; an actor of a Washington theater, Irakli Kavsadze; a music conductor from Los Angeles, Marina Lomtatidze, and others. |

No drivers license, car registration, or other documents will be issued in Abkhazia (breakaway province of Georgia) without Russian passport. Sergey Bagapsh, self-proclaimed president of the Abkhazia, stated about that at an emergency meeting with representatives of the law enforcement agencies to charge with new instructions to force people get Russian passport. |

The average age of Abkhazia (breakaway province of Georgia) bridges is greater than 50 years, and most bridges in the Abkhazia were designed for a 30- year life. Under international law, all bridges are subject to inspection every two years. |
