For fifteen years the face of Khaindrava has flashed across the television screens. A man once involved in the Gamsakhurdia's coming to power, as well as his overthrow and the events of the 'rose revolution', is yet again attempting to contribute to destabilizing the situation, perhaps for the first time in a direct confrontation with a legitimate government - in an apparent attempt at self-aggrandizement. Indeed, prior to this, he had remained in the shadows with a firm hold on power.
Observe his rise to power - a chronicle of a man directly culpable in the events of Abkhazia, the person on whose orders occurred the sanctioned robbery of the Abkhazian people, with him receiving a personal share from the looting. Ask the current residents of Abkhazia or those former residents who live beyond its borders, the five hundred thousand witnesses to his crimes, what they think of Khaindrava, and you will most certainly hear in response that he is a bastard.
Notice the handing out of white armbands to the participants in the demonstrations, doesn't this scene seem a little too familiar? Aren't these the armbands once handed out to the criminal "Mhedrioni"? Or does it no longer make any difference to the supporters of Gamsakhurdia Jr. that he stands side by side with the very people who ordered the former removed from power?
This article's objective is not to analyze the events or indeed the personality of Khaindrava, as he doesn't present himself a public personality and it makes no sense to dignify him with wasted time attempting to uncover some dark corners of his past. The only aim ithas is to remind those who may be confused and also those who take the bait of provocation thrown at them.
The entire political route taken by goga (i don't want to dignify his name with capitalization, for which I must offer my apologies to thousands of other, honest gogas out there..) distinguishes itself in the utter dismal failure of all matters that have ever been entrusted to him. Let Goga's so-called supporters name even a single officially-delegated task which he has seen through to its conclusion. There would be little for them to say given how much of a failure his tenure has been.
The reason why I'm putting so much emphasis on the term 'officially-delegated' is because he had always had a hand in destabilizing matters. So lets consider this, did he participate in these acts of destabilization purely through sheer coincidence, or is he in fact a Lyubyanka 'conspirator'?
Mind you that the likes of goga always publicly rebuke Russia, but all of their actions point towards collaboration with it. Ask the average Russian or Georgian if they are aware of his existence, or what they think of his "Pro-Georgianism", or "Pro-Russism". The question is rhetorical - he is radically pro-Georgian, don't we hear time after time his public remarks disparaging of Russia? So wherein is the truth here? I'll start and you can figure out the rest on your own..
If goga scolds Russia, yet all of his efforts are linked with the undermining of the Georgian sovereignty, would he not be a poseur, wearing the stripes of the KGB?
In conclusion, I'd also like to add something on a more personal note. goga khaindrava - begone, you miserable wretch. Dr. Ramaz Mitaishvili Glendale, CA |
