On January 5, 2008 the citizens of Georgia will elect their President. The majority is supporting the policy of the candidate and former President of Georgia Michael Saakashvili, stated Irakli Gagua, the Director of Abkhazia Institute for Social and Economic Research, to the Streampress
The survey performed by Abkhazia Institute for Social and Economic Research proves that Michael Saakashvili has gained enough authority among the Georgians who also support his political course. Although the election campaign is still in progress, our experts are confident that Michael Saakashvili has the most chances to win. “The problem of Ajaria is solved; a serious recreation work is held in Abkhazia and Southern Ossetia. The democratic reforms had become obvious to the Georgians within the recent years. Back in time, people were persecuted by the government of Shevardnadze. The salary was increased within the last four years, the unemployment issues were solved partially; in other words, Saakhashvili is implementing democratic reforms.” By giving their votes to Saakashvili, people of Georgia will choose the policy of democratic reforms. |
