Russia does not recognize " the alternative government " of South Ossetia led by Dmitry Sanakoev and is not going to reject its support to the current president of the republic Edward Kokojty.
This comment was released by The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, in response to mass media news that Moscow is planning to reconsider its position in regards to Tskhinvali , thus legitimating the on-going support to separatism in whole and particularly in South Ossetia The Foreign Ministry of Russia outlines that the rumors about the fact that Russia is ready to recognize “Sanakoev’s administration, located in the village of Kurta” , as one of the sides of South-Osetian conflict do not correspond to reality. “ Moscow knows very well who represents the authority in South Osetia and whom actually supports the majority of the population. Any attempts to disregard this fact or to break this logical chain would be unrealistic “ comments Foreign Ministry of Russia. According to the Foreign Ministry of Russian Federation, Russia is not going to “turn its back” on Tskhinvali and launch the contacts with the representatives of Tbilisi in the local regions , not admitted as legal sides of the on-going conflict , and thus not related to the negotiating process. |
