Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho insisted Friday that Barcelona are more motivated than ever to win back the title they surrendered to Real Madrid last season.
And in a snipe at those who have questioned his declining physical powers and supposedly expanding waistline, he claimed to be feeling "very good" physically.
"The atmosphere in the dressing room is very focused, everyone has their feet firmly on the ground," he said.
But the twice FIFA world player of the year moved quickly to refute allegations that Barca's new quartet of strikers - dubbed the Fantastic Four - have anything in common with the former Galacticos of Real Madrid - all of whom have now left the Spanish champions.
Since Frenchman Thierry Henry joined Barca from Arsenal in the close season - joining the Brazilian, Cameroon speedster Samuel Eto'o and Argentine Lionel Messi - the press in Spain has been gushing over the fabulous foursome that makes up Barca's attacking options.
But Ronaldinho said only that the players would bring a lot of experience to the team and that they were all working towards the same goal - guiding Barcelona to the title.
Barca open the season against Racing Santander this weekend and Ronaldinho, who will be given dual Spanish nationality next week, said he feels good about the season ahead.
In particular he said he felt good personally having had the summer off after withdrawing from Brazil's successful Copa America squad.
Last season he was roundly criticised for a dip in form from his previous two years in the Catalan captial. |
