Goals from Stanislav Sestak and Daniel Imhof handed VfL Bochum provisional top spot in the Bundesliga on Friday with a 2-1 victory over ten-man SV Hamburg.
Slovak international striker Sestak took advantage of major errors in the Hamburg defence to put the hosts ahead just before the half-time whistle and Imhof sealed victory with a long shot after 83 minutes.

Hamburg skipper Rafael van der Vaart, who this week commited to the club amid speculation he was bound for Valencia, led the fightback but the visitors faced an uphill battle after Vincent Kompany was sent off after 60 minutes.

Van der Vaart converted a penalty after 86 minutes but it was was not enough to lift his side who conceded their first points of the championship.

Second-placed Bayern Munich, one point behind Bochum and now the only unbeaten side, can regain the lead Saturday when they host 11th-placed Hanover.
