Everton's frustrating summer search for reinforcements received a boost on Wednesday as they finally secured the signature of Nigeria striker Ayegbeni Yakubu.
Yakubu joins for £11.25 million (22.6 million dollars) on a five-year contract from Middlesbrough after the Home Office granted the Nigerian a work permit on appeal.
After France forward Thierry Henry, now at Barcelona, the Nigerian has scored the most goals in the Premiership over the last four seasons.
His proposed move to Goodison Park originally hit a snag as the Home Office refused to grant him a work permit due to a lack of action for the Nigeria national side.
But Everton successfully argued that the reason he had not played in 75 percent of his country's internationals over the last two years was because he had opted out of representing his country.
